Orientation

Everything you need to know about PRC, on one page. Read the first section and you can start playing tonight. Nothing here is a test and none of it is homework.

Updated 16 October 2026 · 13 minute read

If you read nothing else, read this

You don't have to apply to anything, and you don't need to know any lore. The camp takes anyone off the boat. Three steps and you are playing.

  1. Say hello in the camp

Go to #cd-common. That is the detainee camp and it is open to you right now, with no application and no waiting. Everyone starts as a Contingent Asset, the Corporation's word for somebody it has not assigned to a job yet.

  2. Link your Roblox account

Go to #verify and link your Roblox account. It takes about a minute and it opens the rest of the server; until then you see four channels.

  3. Pick a department, then run /apply

Pick whichever sounds like something you would enjoy on a Tuesday evening, not whichever sounds most impressive, then run /apply. Six questions, about two minutes, and an answer inside 24 hours either way. Staying in the camp is a normal choice too.

Still not sure? Post in #faq-desk and say what you'd rather be doing, not what you'd rather be called. Somebody will point you at a department.

What this actually is

PRC is a roleplay group on Roblox. You play somebody who works at a secret site on an island. A government-funded company holds the contract, and the place is being built from nothing.

The site is not finished. That is the whole point. Most groups in this genre hand you a finished facility and you walk the same corridors forever. Here the map is the scoreboard.

  1. 1 · Dig

Detainees work faces in the Cut and haul spoil to the skip.

  2. 2 · Move

Logistics run the truck, the docks and the stores.

  3. 3 · Build

Engineering spend what was dug on real structures and place them on the live map.

  4. 4 · Unlock

A community bar fills as everyone digs. When it fills, a new part of the site opens for everyone, for good.

On day one there is a supply pier, a detainee camp, an open excavation called the Cut, and an adit driven into the eastern mountain. Everything else on the plan is scheduled, funded and not yet built.

Branches and ranks are two different things

This trips up almost everyone, and it's simple once the two words are separated. You hold one of each.

  • Your branch is what you do: which department you are in.
  • Your rank is how far up you are: six steps, the same six in every department.

Rank names come in three layers, and you can ignore two of them for a long time:

1 · The grade

G0 to G5

The contract. The same six steps in every department, and the thing that carries the authority.

2 · The band

Initiate, Operator, Custodian, Director

What Discord and Roblox show next to your name. G1 and G2 share a band, and so do G3 and G4.

3 · The title

Foreman, Sergeant, Clerk

Your department's flavour. A Foreman and a Sergeant are both G3, both Custodians, and equals.

The short version: your branch is your job, your rank is how far up you are, and the grade is just a label so two people with different job titles know they are equals.

How you move up

Three things, and you need all three or it doesn't happen: time in grade, a number somebody can point at, and a sponsor who puts their name on it. Promotions are posted publicly with the numbers attached, and nobody signs their own. More in Moving up.

Clearance, briefly

Clearance follows from your rank automatically. There is no application for it, which is why there is no channel for requesting it.

LevelOpensWho has it
CL-1The camp, the pier, the Cut, Floor 1Everyone, from day one
CL-2The adit works, restricted stores, the tower deskG3 and above. Security and Vanguard reach it earlier, because the far side of the Wire is where they work.
CL-3Whatever Floor 2 turns out to beAppointed. Not rankable into.
CL-4EverythingTwo people

The departments

Pick whichever sounds like a good evening, not whichever sounds most important.

Detainee Labour CD

The dig. Everything the site is built from comes out of the ground here.

An evening

  • Work a face in the Cut and haul spoil to the skip
  • Earn credits and days off your sentence, and spend them in the commissary
  • Work up to Trusty, then run a gang of four as a Ganger
  • Everything the site is built from comes out of your face. Every stud of it

Who it suits

Everyone. It is the default role, with no barrier, and it is meant to be good enough that people choose it on purpose.

How you get in. The boat. No application, no interview, sixty seconds from joining to holding a tool.

Starting in the camp is not starting at the bottom

Detainee Labour takes anyone, instantly, with no application. That sounds like the consolation prize and it isn't. The camp has its own ladder, its own economy and its own way out.

RungHow you get thereWhat you get
D0 UnprocessedStep off the boatA number and a jumpsuit
D1 DetaineeProcessing, about a minuteTools, faces, credits, the commissary
D2 TrustyThree clean shifts at outputUnescorted inside the camp, a better commissary, a camp job: cook, orderly, clerk
D3 GangerAn Overseer's sign-offRuns a gang of four, takes a cut of its output, chooses the face
TS Time-ServedA release board, at a credit thresholdLeaves the camp, may apply to any branch with a recommendation, and skips the trial week

You can start as a prisoner with a number and end up a Security sergeant. A fair number of the staff will have come up exactly that way.

The week

Two scheduled operations, same days, same time, every week. Everything else is whenever you feel like logging in.

Works shift A mass dig. The bar moves during the session.60 to 90 minutes
Site op The headline, rotating through six kinds.90 minutes

MonthlyInspection Command walks the site and everything built is photographed for the archive.45 minutes

The works programme

The number the whole group plays against. It is posted every morning whether it moved or not, because a number that didn't move is a reason to log in.

Posted every morning in #works-programme. These are example figures.

  • Digging raises the tonnage, which raises the bar.
  • Building spends the budget and places a module on the map, permanently.
  • A raid steals material and drops the bar. On purpose: it gives the next works shift a reason to exist.
  • The bar filling opens a new part of the site for everybody, forever.

When a ship is due, #manifest-vote gets three options for what it carries and the whole server votes. And there is a line on the board marked Drift. It goes up. Nobody will explain it yet.

How we treat each other

Everyone here is a real person. How you treat them matters regardless of what either of you is pretending to be in-game.

In-character conflict is the game working. None of it is a reason to be unkind to the actual human on the other end. Anyone can say "out of character" and the scene stops, with no questions and no exception for rank. The full standard is on Conduct.

Where things are

You see four channels when you arrive. The rest open the moment you link your Roblox account in #verify, and more open when you are posted to a department.

Still stuck?

Ask in #faq-desk. No question there is too basic, and "I don't know, I'll find out" is an acceptable answer from any of us. If you haven't started yet, you don't need any of this page to: #cd-common is open, and you can be holding a tool in under a minute.
