Conduct
The story is meant to be uncomfortable. Being here isn't.
Every person in this community is a real person. The way you treat them matters regardless of what either of you is pretending to be in-game.
Conflict in character is part of the game. Security arrests detainees. The site gets raided. Command makes decisions that upset people. All of that is expected. None of it is a reason to be unkind to the human on the other side of the screen.
The standard
- Experience is not rank. New members don't know things yet. That's normal, and treating it as a failure isn't acceptable.
- People play differently. Some are here for deep roleplay, some for the action, some to hunt lore. All are valid.
- Tone matters in text. If someone tells you your tone is causing a problem, take it seriously rather than defending the intent.
- Staff are held to the same process as everyone else, and don't use rank to settle an argument out of character.
The lines
- Keep it fictional and non-graphic. No real-world atrocity references and no depiction of torture.
- No slurs, no real-world politics, no sexual content, nothing that sexualises anyone.
- Report, don't retaliate.
Leaving a scene
You can always leave a scene. Say you're stepping out, and go. No questions, no consequence, and nobody follows you to finish it.
If someone carries on after you've left, or you're not comfortable with how a scene is going, tell staff. Staff can pause any scene.
If something goes wrong
Most things are settled by talking. If the behaviour was severe, targeted or clearly intentional, skip that and report it straight away. A good report says what happened, specifically, when it happened, includes screenshots if you have them, and says what outcome you're looking for. You'll have an answer inside 48 hours, faster if anyone's safety is involved.
The moderation ladder is warning, logged warning, timeout, and removal. Every action is logged with a reason and a name, and you can always ask what's on your own record with /cases. You get one appeal per action, to the Arbiter, who wasn't part of the decision, answered within seven days.
Complaints about how staff used their powers are taken privately with /complaint, answered, and counted in public every month.
